Honeymoon!!

Hello family and friends,

Just a quick update on how we are doing. The past week has been wonderful! David’s family made it safely home to Honduras on Tuesday. We were so blessed to have them here with us! Pictures of the wedding will be coming soon- probably sometime next week we would like to have some up so everyone can see them!

We are so blessed to leave on Monday for a wonderful honeymoon trip to San Destin Golf and Beach Resort, in San Destin, Florida. It is a beautiful place! David and I cannot wait to be there to relax and spend some time together! We will be leaving Monday and returning Friday, but first we have Robert Conti and Colleen Thorp’s wedding.

Colleen has been my roommate for the past year, and David and Robert work together, and are great friends. David is in the wedding tonight at the HPC lake, and we are soooooo excited for them to be husband and wife!! It is all so fresh to us, and I know that they will have a beautiful wedding, and an amazing life together!

Hope to hear from everyone…leave us a comment or two! We love you!

in 4 days….

David and I will be married!!! I really can’t believe how quickly it has gotten here!! This week family is starting to come in town and I can’t wait to see everyone! Gabi (bridesmaid) and Angela (bridesmaid) and I got back yesterday from a bachelorette weekend in New Orleans! We stayed at the Hilton hotel and went shopping on Magazine Street, ate a Nile Cafe (YUM!) and the best part was having no agenda…we knew that the minute we got back to BR we were going to hit the ground running! It was very relaxing and timely, because this week will be (and has already been) crazy!!! I will try and post some pictures of the weekend on the blog as soon as i can so come back to look at those! :o)

Another thing David and I have been working on the past week is the house…getting it ready for his wife to live there! :o) David has such amazing taste when it comes to decorating, and has been in the house for a year and half so the house was pretty much the way we wanted it- we just had to clear out a closet for me and make some room for all my stuff! :o) Also, David’s roommate and a groomsmen, Ty, had to move out this weekend- it was sad, but i know that David will like his new roommate just fine! We can try and post some pictures of the house on the website also…

We can’t wait to see everyone together in 4 days…and don’t forget to RSVP if you haven’t already!! Love ya,

David and Lauren

Forecast for April: SHOWERS

(this blog post title is credited to my roommate, colleen)

Well, Saturday the showers began! It was soooo much fun!! Kristin Thibodeaux, Karen Rentz, and Kim Nealy threw my Bridal shower this Saturday afternoon. We had a lot of good food, a very delicious strawberry cake, beautiful pink and green flowers, and lots of pictures! All of my dear friends were there- it means so much to me that they were able to be a part of it!

Some of my bridesmaids (Gabi and Angela and Tori) were there. I LOVE these girls! My Maid of Honor- Meghan wasn’t able to be there because she just had the most precious beautiful baby girl Presley Claire on Thursday!! She was born at 5:03pm 7lbs 13.6 oz and 22 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful- a perfect mix of Chris and Meghan. Check back later for pictures of Auntie Lauren with Presley! And Heather recently returned from a mission trip to India.

David and I received lots of wonderful gifts for our new house! Complete with a sandwich maker and a juice jar (both especially for David!) :o) We are so so blessed- and couldn’t ask for more wonderful, loving, supportive friends and family!

Check back for pictures- and the more updated news.

The showers continue from Saturday well into Tuesday evening- The Couple’s Shower! It’s going to be so much fun!! Can’t wait to see everyone there. Love ya,

The Soon-to-be Mrs. Song (in only 20 days!!!!)

WE’RE BAAACK!

Hey everyone,

We are officially home! After a much longer day of travel than necessary (due to a late plane that put us not leaving Houston til 11pm) we are safely back in the good ole’ state of LA. Thank you Thank you Thank you for all of your prayers, and comments, and encouragement. It is such a blessing to have amazing people around us, like you- to stand with us in this time.

David spoke with his family when we got back in town, and his mom said that his Dad’s spirits were high, and is fighting to be here in 4 weeks for the wedding.

I Praise God that we were able to encourage Mr. Song in a time where depression and loneliness can take over- but he is memorizing and reading healing scriptures over his life, and is believing that God will do a great work!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! :0) we love you

Honduras: Day Seven

Today we were going to church! I was a little nervous about going to church where I didn’t speak the language as anyone, but I was also excited!

It was great. We walked in right as worship was starting and we were greeted by lots of kisses at the door! (Everyone kisses each other on the cheek) Worship was good- I didn’t really know what I was singing, but it was still good! The Pastor’s wife came up and did a “flow” time (that’s for all the HPC people!) They honored David’s dad for being in service and prayed for a while and then it was time for the message. David would lean over to me every once in a while and tell me the basic gist of what he was preaching. Again, it was good- didn’t know everything he said- but what David was telling me about was great! Mr. Song started out ok- but by the message David had to get another chair for him to lean on- he was very tired but fought through! We were so proud of him!

The church building was very clean (considering all the construction going on around it) and it was nice! It had tile floor and bright walls and had windows at the top of the building- it was pretty. It was so great to be able to be in the church that David grew up in. It meant a lot to me.

At the end of the service the Pastor gave an altar call and the whole church went forward! Seriously. Then the Pastor called David and his dad up and prayed over his dad. It was so awesome to see the body of Christ come together and stand with him and his family. They had been looking forward to David coming to church- it had been a while since they had seen him there.

The Pastor’s wife came up to me after service and we talked a little bit (she spoke english)- and she asked if I could practice my Spanish with her. She was so sweet and so beautiful. She told me stories about David- how we won an award at school for not missing 1 day of school OR being late…from kindergarten to 12th grade! WOW! Talk about amazing discipline. That’s one of the things I love most about him. She told me about a new church they were opening up in one of the villages, and the things they were doing in that community. I love going overseas and getting a refreshed picture of the “global” God that we serve! He is everywhere and is praised in every language!

After service we drove home and had the best Chinese food ever! David’s mom had ordered Chinese for lunch, and they delivered to the house! David was telling me that everything delivers in Honduras. If you don’t deliver- you don’t make any money!

So, Sunday was our day to finish up anything we needed to do before we left. We scanned some pictures from his family albums, printed our boarding passes, and finished laundry. We were both feeling very sad that our trip was coming to an end. I knew it would be hard to leave.

We sat with his family for a while, and i prepared a little word to share with his dad to encourage him before we left. David had done such a great job taking care of his dad, and was so sweet to him and loving to him. I knew that his dad would be really sad when David left.

After dinner we just sat together and his dad tried on his outfit for our wedding. His whole family is going to wear the traditional korean outfits- which i am SO excited about! He looked so handsome. I can’t wait to see them all in 4 weeks.

Right before his dad went to bed we prayed over him and I shared something to encourage him. It was such a wonderful moment that we all had. I know that God is doing a work in his body. And he believes it too! We got ready for bed and a long day of travel ahead.

It’s been a great trip. One that I would not trade for the world.

Honduras: Day Six

Today was our day to be tourists! After breakfast David, Ivette, Baby Michel and I headed to the “City of Angels”. It’s a little city on top of a huge mountain that is full of restaurants, a beautiful park, and a lot of wood carvings, hammocks, and shops! We spent the day there and got some really good coffee and some fun gifts! The drive there was a little crazy- i was on the “cliff side” of the car- and it got a little scary at one point, but we made it! We had a lot of fun and David took lots of pictures! We left the shops and drove back down the mountain and met his parents and brother in law at a restaurant called El Patio.

They have really really good steak! It’s David’s favorite restaurant and we had it twice while we were in Honduras. When you order a steak..it’s literally as big as your plate! It was fun to be out with the whole family. Especially for his dad to get out of the house, and just sit with us. After lunch we drove home to sit with his dad and just visit with them.

Their pastor came by to visit Mr. Song and to encourage him. It was so nice to meet the man that has been David’s pastor almost his whole life. He baptized David, has watched him grow up, and has been there for David’s family during this time. It was an honor to meet him. You could tell as soon as the pastor came in the house to meet his dad- his countenance changed. His dad sat up on the couch and had so much joy and gratitude in his eyes. He kept thanking the pastor over and over for coming. I could tell it meant so much to him. He began to tell the pastor how he wanted to come to Louisiana for the wedding, and there was so much determination in his eyes. It broke my heart because I know he has will to do more than his body allows him. I KNOW that God knows the desires of his heart and will give him the grace to travel for our wedding. It means so much to him, and to David and I as well. It wouldn’t be the same without him.

He sang amazing grace for the pastor- and once again, I had to walk to another room- there’s just something about him praising God through this season- it’s powerful and I cry every time he sings!!!

David and I spoke with the pastor a bit and as we walked him out some visitors from the Korean Embassy were there to see Mr. Song. He had lots of visitors that night!

We ate dinner together and David and I were able to do a little work on wedding stuff, and then it was time for bed!!

Another great day at the Song house…

Honduras: Day Five

This morning was pretty normal. No appointments or anything. We woke up, worked out, had breakfast and sat with his family to visit. Then after lunch Ivette, the baby, and I headed to the mall! It was time to shop! We had a lot of fun. I love Ivette- she’s wonderful!

By the time we got home from shopping it was dinner time, and so we ate and then David and I went to the dentist :0). (Actually, his sister is a dentist and has her dental clinic attached to the house) After that David and I worked on some wedding stuff and went through old family albums…below is one of the pictures we scanned! :0)

David

Yeah, I know, he’s the cutest baby ever!! :0) It was a lot of fun to look through old pictures of David and Ivette, his dad traveling with a Tae Kwon Do team, and the most beautiful wedding pictures of his parents! It’s been fun to see where David has been, and to see pictures of him growing up.

Well, his dad had an O.K. day today. In the mornings he feels great- by mid-afternoon he isn’t doing so well. Their pastor came by to visit him tonight, and it really encouraged him! There is such a determination in him to be at our wedding. I am praying that God will give him favor with the doctors so they will let him come. Please pray with us for his total healing, and that he will be with us for our wonderful day.
